  1. I believe bentonite clay is also used in some patients with GI issues. Anyway, be careful with it. It absorbs tons of water. You could easily get super constipated.

  2. I think this is slightly silly but I guess the researchers have to do something. I would assume that after ingesting the clay which absorbs that fat, you just naturally pass it through your system and into the toilet. However, since clay has the absorbing properties (just just the fats from foods you eat, I would slightly worry it might absorb other things in your system or anything that should stay in your system that would help natural digestion. Also, I am wondering if eating enough of this clay would start to coat your system…

There is actually a consumer product that's available to purchased called alli ( I am not sponsored). alli which is swallowed in pill form, contains the chemical orlistat that helps block your system from absorbing a portion of fat ingested by food. So instead of all the fat from foods you eat being absorbed into your system, a portal of that fat just passes through your system and you pass it while you are on the toilet (sight isn't pretty but thing about it, if it wasn't there, its getting into your body). alli is FDA approved because the active ingredient Orlistat has actually been around a long time and a higher strength of it is prescribed by by doctors to treat obesity cases, so as alli is a weaker strength of that, all the FDA regulations have already been tested. alli is very straight forward with the side effects and changes it may cause you, most are very minor, all of course if it's used as directed and only when needed. Just like alli, I would assume the consumption of the dirt/clay does not absorb 100% of the fat. So be it dirt or alli or whatever, these are weight loss aids and you should over all practice a healthier diet as well as get in some exercise.

tl;dr Not sure why lost of time is being spent researching somethings when there are other ways that does about the same thing that has gone through more FDA testing already.

  3. Sadly, I know some people out there would read that article and actually do it… Dirt does not give you any nutrition at all and it's sooooo unsanitary! Btw, of course, you're gonna lose weight if you aren't getting any nutrition into your body… That doesn't mean that you'll be losing weight healthily though… I know people have eaten dirt or clay in the past, but I'm afraid people will go overboard with it and cause themselves a lot of damage…
